Introducing the new PowerTech Plus 6.8 L engine. Four valves per cylinder. High-pressure common rail fuel delivery. Fully electronic engine management. Advanced variable geometry turbocharger and exhaust gas recirculation. Simply put, it's the ideal powerplant for the new 7030 Series Tractors. The 7030 Series feature a 43 percent torque rise and 13 percent power bulge (measured at the PTO). And with new available Intelligent Power Management, you get up to 30 additional engine hp at rated engine speed for transport and mobile rear PTO applications. The end result is the right power-to-weight ratio for any task, from heavy drawbar work to baling to hauling manure. It's just another example of the John Deere commitment to bring you the most advanced tractor engine technology.

Four valves per cylinder give the 6.8 L engine a 22-percent increase in airflow (compared to a 2-valve design). This greater breathing capacity is what gives you high torque characteristics across the entire working range.
Centered fuel injectors optimize fuel/air mix for more complete combustion. A pilot injection during cold engine starts results in smooth, quiet engine warm up.
The High-Pressure Common Rail (HPCR) fuel system delivers unmatched fuel efficiency. Computer controls inject a precise amount of fuel to each cylinder at the right time. Response to changing load conditions is instantaneous.
New Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) provides excellent low-speed torque, improved engine response and enhanced fuel economy.
The high-quality, one-piece gray iron engine block features generous internal webbing, circular truss ribs, and a full- length coolant manifold for the highest levels of reliability. Cast-aluminium alloy pistons use a ceramic-reinforced top for durability and are designed to improve cold weather starting, reduce smoke levels, and improve emission control.
Cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) a proven on-highway technology, improves fuel economy, increases engine reliability, and reduces emissions.
Go all day without a pit stop The 7030 Series Tractors feature a 103-gal (390-L) fuel tank and self-bleeding electric fuel pump to minimize downtime.

Intelligent Power Management gives you up to 30 additional engine hp when you need it during high rpm applications, such as transport or mobile rear PTO operations.

The 6.8 L 4V-CR engine's torque levels stay very high, even as the engine speed decreases. This constant high-torque characteristic gives these engines massive puffing power.
