The STIHL BT 45 drill is ideal whenever an electric socket is not available or not yet available. With its powerful petrol engine, it can easily drill planting holes in the ground or holes measuring up to 25mm in diameter in wood. This drill is a genuine alternative to electric drills with power generator whenever holes have to be drilled without mains power. Driven by a petrol engine, this drill continues to serve its purpose even when battery powered drills have had to give up on account of low temperatures.

The STIHL BT 45 drill has a two-speed gearbox for more effective adaptation to the application in question. Jammed drill bits can be cleared with the standard reverse gear, and the idle position makes it possible to start or restart the machine safely without rotating toll. The four wood drills with diameters ranging from 13mm to 25mm are hardened through to prevent them warping if they become jammed in the wood. The length of the high-grade, precisely balanced planting hole drills with detachable cutting head and bit is exactly right for working in an upright position.

The chucks can hold drills with a shank diameter of up to 13mm. The quick release chuck can be used instead of a conventional chuck with key.
