On the isolated operator station, the floor, seat and steering column are assembled, then mounted to the tractor on composite isolators, significantly reducing noise and vibration. Right and left side steps, flat floor and standard tilt steering wheel give you easy access.

We took the most comfortable cab in the utility tractor class and made it even better. Climb in the spacious Comfort Cab, (from either left or right side doors) and have a seat. Notice how the flat floor creates a more spacious interior. Relax in the adjustable cloth seat with armrests. (Choose an optional air suspension seat for the ultimate in ride comfort.) Adjust the standard tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel to fit the way you drive Convenient right-hand transmission and SCV controls, plus a mid-mount joystick keep efficiency close at hand. And the color-coded, ergonomic controls are easy to reach. Add an optional AM/FM radio with Weatherband and either a CD or cassette player and enjoy the ride.

FLOW CONTROL allows you to easily adjust hydraulic flow to implements that use hydraulic motors. (Available with the mid and rear triple SCV)

HITCH PRIORITY 3-point hitch has priority over rear hydraulic control valves so you can raise and lower implements at each pass without having to turn the hydraulics off.

This transmission is
ideal for fieldwork,
light loader applications,
and for when you need
a basic durable transmission.

Ideal if you perform
heavy applications. The wet
clutch is a good investment, especially when more
frequent clutching is
necessary, such as in loader applications, because it lasts
3 to 5 times longer.

If you need more field speeds
in the working range as well
as transport speeds of 25
miles per hour, this
transmission offers the
convenience of a Hi/Lo switch
on the gear shift lever and
an indicator light on the
instrument panel. Simply by pushing the button, you can fluctuate your speed by 20%.

Only John Deere loaders are designed as an integral part of your tractor. From the beginning stages of tractor design, John Deere loaders are part of the product development process. Plus, these loaders are built with added strength and durability to take full advantage of high-capacity hydraulics. You get tremendous breakout force and extra-fast cycle times. 500 Series Loaders come standard with the Quik-Change system, and you can switch from a bucket to a pallet fork to a bale and silage grapple in seconds.

The left-hand electro-hydraulic PowrReverser lever is mounted on the steering column for fingertip control and easy, clutchless shifting.

Available triple mid-mount SCV's allow for operation of silage grapple or 3-way bucket.

Lower torque tube keeps headlight beam clear when working at night.

New joystick grip allows for greater loader control. Third function option allows you to operate silage grapple or 4-way bucket.

Detach a John Deere loader in no time at all..........

STEP 1 Park the tractor on level ground and lower bucket to ground.

STEP 2 With the bucket at a 45 degree angle, put down-pressure on the bucket to slightly raise the front tires off the ground. Install the parking stands and remove the mast pins.

STEP 3 With the tractor in neutral, activate the lift hydraulics to move the mast forward slightly, then roll the bucket flat on the ground. This will release the loader from the mounting frame and park it. Relieve hydraulic pressure, disconnect the hoses, and slowly back the tractor away from the loader. Just reverse the process to reattach. Talk about fast and simple!

Does your work take you over rough terrain such as pivot tracks, field ruts and r bumps, and uneven ground? A John Deere Loader with LSS can:

Increase travel speeds so you can move material faster
Reduce cargo damage - less movement to the load.
Add life to loader pins and bushings, and to tractor front axle.

Add LSS to your 522 or 542 loader for moving pallets, seed, trees, fruit, and hay bales. A properly ballasted tractor equipped with LSS will be more stable, as well, creating a smoother ride for the operator.

How does LSS work?
An accumulator is connected to the headend lift cylinder via a hose. This allows the lift cylinder to extend and retract, providing shock absorption to the load being carried. The accumulator is mounted to the rear axle where it's protected and doesn't obstruct visibility. A handle on the accumulator turns the LSS on and off. (LSS is not needed when digging or backblading.)

As many as six Selective Control Valves (SCV's) can be field- or factory- installed (up to three rear and three mid). With the rear deluxe triple SCV option, selectable detents allow you to choose continuous, kick-out, or no detent to fit the task. CONTINUOUS
When used with the first SCV, you can run implements that use hydraulic motors such as planters, sprayers and hay rakes.
KICK-OUT
This detent will kick out the hydraulics once an implement has been lifted to its maximum or set height. This saves time when frequently raising and lowering implements, such as disks or rotary cutters.
NO DETENT
Similar to operating single or dual SCV's, this setting will respond accordingly as you pull or push the lever, such as to operate a hydraulic box blade or a loader from the rear hydraulics.
